Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal !!!
Related to country: Nepal

Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

At last, after a delay of about 11 hours, the first CA meeting took place, which announced the much-awaited declaration of Nepal being, from now on, the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, making the country the youngest republic in the world, effectively ending the 240-year-old institution of monarchy and making the king an ordinary citizen. Among 564 votes cast, the motion of making Nepal a republic got 560 votes.
In a country where the Hindus (most populated religion) worshipped the king as a reincarnation of Vishnu, the God of survival and life, today, it has been proved he is a mortal and no God, and hence punishable to any offences. As we celebrate the victory of good over bad all year round, we have added one more day, a glorious day, when WE, the people of our land, ousted the arrogant and ambitious "master" of our land. Today, the day WE decided as Nepalese the future of Nepal. Today, the day WE created and wrote our own history.
But this is not enough. We are still to see - watch carefully and warn any distractions - and make sure this seed we sowed reap. Just being declared a federal republic may not solve the many problems we are facing, but we can make it a starting point, an initiative towards economic and social revolution.. a revolution to end feudalism and corruption.. not from the jungles, but from our homes, offices and governance.
Many people may find it intimidating to once again see this change. After all, we have seen many changes in our country without any proper development or structure. But, we cannot simply deny this fact that WE have uprooted a hereditory rule whose forefathers united Nepal and ruled the land thenafter till today. Unfortunate to the Shah dynasty, its successors couldn't relate with the wind of change we Nepalese brought in. And today, WE as responsible citizens of our beloved Nepal threw away the age old autocratic regime.

"Nepal has turned into an independent, indivisible, secular, inclusive, federal democratic republic with sovereignty and state authority vested in the people.”

Today, to all the Nepalese all around the world, congratulations and all the very best wishes!!

It is not in bigger things..
Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

In life, most of the time, it is not the bigger things we do that matter. The true meaning of life lies in smaller and simpler things. One act of making someone smile gives immense satisfaction than our heavy bank balances. In today's hectic world, we try so much to prove ourselves to the materialistic world that sometimes we forget we are human beings with all those human emotions and attributes. We learn about global warming, yet we buy ourselves most luxurious cars. We hear about children dying of hunger, and we spend thousands in booking ourselves grand tables in grand hotels. We talk about human rights, still we become mere spectators when we see someone being denied their rights. It is not that we shud deny ourselves the luxury or our rights to use our materials the way we want to. But, as we exercise our rights, we shud not be blind to what is happening around us. Money may buy us our basic necessities, but it is love and care that gives us reasons to use those basic necessities. What is the use of food if all someone wants is death? A little love can give someone a life!

Verdict of the public in the CA Elections
Related to country: Nepal

Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

After days of much confusions and anticipations, shows of power and fear - killings and bomb blasts, we went to the CA elections at last. And the results have been not very surprising to us, but largely shocking to the big and experienced players of politics and their loyal comrades. The Maoists have won in most places, leading still. The reason? Probably because we want a change in the leadership.. social and economic revolution.. reshaping our political structures.. Just simply, we want change. We want peace, commitment, stability and accountability.

It is the will of us to see CPN(M) form the government and we hope they will not stray away from their promises of a 'new' Nepal and involvement of marginalized population in policy-making ..
