At last, after a delay of about 11 hours, the first CA meeting took place, which announced the much-awaited declaration of Nepal being, from now on, the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, making the country the youngest republic in the world, effectively ending the 240-year-old institution of monarchy and making the king an ordinary citizen. Among 564 votes cast, the motion of making Nepal a republic got 560 votes.
In a country where the Hindus (most populated religion) worshipped the king as a reincarnation of Vishnu, the God of survival and life, today, it has been proved he is a mortal and no God, and hence punishable to any offences. As we celebrate the victory of good over bad all year round, we have added one more day, a glorious day, when WE, the people of our land, ousted the arrogant and ambitious "master" of our land. Today, the day WE decided as Nepalese the future of Nepal. Today, the day WE created and wrote our own history.
But this is not enough. We are still to see - watch carefully and warn any distractions - and make sure this seed we sowed reap. Just being declared a federal republic may not solve the many problems we are facing, but we can make it a starting point, an initiative towards economic and social revolution.. a revolution to end feudalism and corruption.. not from the jungles, but from our homes, offices and governance.
Many people may find it intimidating to once again see this change. After all, we have seen many changes in our country without any proper development or structure. But, we cannot simply deny this fact that WE have uprooted a hereditory rule whose forefathers united Nepal and ruled the land thenafter till today. Unfortunate to the Shah dynasty, its successors couldn't relate with the wind of change we Nepalese brought in. And today, WE as responsible citizens of our beloved Nepal threw away the age old autocratic regime.

"Nepal has turned into an independent, indivisible, secular, inclusive, federal democratic republic with sovereignty and state authority vested in the people.”

Today, to all the Nepalese all around the world, congratulations and all the very best wishes!!
